Re-Launch!

So, just a couple days past the "Unofficial Star Wars Day" I am making the first news post on my relaunched site. I have narrowed my focus from the general collecting site I was running to something much more focused. My site is now focused on Star Wars Action Fleet, Micro Machines and Titanium, with a small section dedicated to miscellaneous collectibles I enjoy. I will have a domain name shortly and I will also begin uploading pictures and information for my collection, so stay tuned!

First Addition

For the first item added to my re-launched site, I chose a beautiful Action Fleet bootleg: Darth Vader's TIE Fighter. I found this item on eBay, and I just couldn't pass up the chance to own it. Because it's not a true Action Fleet item, I placed it under Miscellaneous >> Other Items because that seemed the best place for it.

Since my site is up again and my Domain name is in the works, I have uploaded all my wallpapers and Winamp skins. As a bit of a disclaimer, the original art on most everything there belongs to someone else, but I scanned the images and cropped them to fit several sizes of computer screens. It took a lot of time and work, but not nearly as much work as the original artists put into it. I will leave them there as long as possible but if I am requested to remove them by the original artists, I will do so.

With the help of Dusty Wilson from Megagram, I got my domain name associated with my website. Late last night MiniEmpire.ca went live, and so now we are open for business so to speak. So come on in, kick your shoes off, make yourselves comfortable and don't mind the man living under the stairs.

Action Fleet Update

So I've begun the data entry portion of my website now. Today I added several items around the site, but my major update was in the Action Fleet section. I have added most of the vehicle releases from 1996 and 1997 release years, but there are a total of seven items from those two years that I haven't uploaded yet. I am trying to have the most comprehensive information on these items, but I no longer have the boxes these items came packaged in so I am relying on the kindness of strangers in order to fill in the blanks. If you can provide any help, I would appreciate some contact. Thanks a lot.

Well I have finished uploading all my finished pictures of the Action Fleet. I still have to take pictures of my new Series Alpha Y-wing Starfighter and process the pictures of the 2 Classic Duels sets, but other than that, if I have it it's up.

I have a favor to ask anyone who is able. I started collecting Action Fleet before I thought of documenting it and putting it online. I also had limited space, so I threw away all the packaging that my Action Fleet came in. I have been helped considerably by some good people, but I still have several items I need box back information for. If anyone has access to a scanner and the box backs for the following, I would appreciate it. Just leave a comment and I will get in touch.

1996 Vehicles
A-Wing Starfighter
Boba Fett's Slave I
Rebel Snowspeeder
Shuttle Tydirium

1997 Vehicles
Bespin Cloud Car
Rancor

Battle PacksGalactic Empire (with Royal Guard)
Aliens and Creatures (with Ponda Baba)
Galactic Hunters (with IG-88)
Dune Sea (No Barada)
Droid Escape (No Gonk Droid)
Desert Palace (No Weequay)
Cantina Smugglers and Spies
Hoth Attack
Death Star Escape
Endor Victory
Imperial Troops
Rebel Troops

Playsets
The Death Star
Ice Planet Hoth

Well, over the last couple days I have uploaded pictures and info for all the Titanium Series that I have ready. In addition to that, I now have the box back info for several more Action Fleet items. Blue2th from the SirStevesGuide.com forums provided me with box backs for the 1995 A-wing, Rebel Snowspeeder, Shuttle Tydirium, and Battle Packs 13 and 15. So those have now been uploaded. Next step is the Micro Machines.

It's been a couple of weeks since I updated the home page with a news post, but I have been busy in the background.

I have finished uploading all my currently finished pictures which means that the Miscellaneous section is now finished. Of course I haven't stopped acquiring new items in that time, so now I need to edit the pictures I've taken and make them web-ready, but it is easy to breathe a sigh of relief because of what I do have finished.

Well ... my laptop failed on me yesterday. One minute it was working just fine and the next minute it wouldn't even power on. So, until I get my replacement laptop there won't be any updates as all my data is on the hard drive of my old laptop. So I'll have a couple weeks of downtime ahead of me.

Wow, with 16,000+ comments on one post, it's clear I need to rework my commenting system to weed out some of the spambots. It won't be too difficult now that I have access to the backend of my site again, but until then, I'd advise against clicking on a comment link that has more than a few comments on it.

Well, I think I may have solved the spam problem. In celebration, I have uploaded the last pictures I have for my Action Fleet. I won both of the Classic Duels sets a few months ago on eBay, as well as the Series Alpha Y-wing Starfighter. The Y-wing can be found in the Series Alpha section of the Action Fleet page, and the Classic Duels are in the Vehicles section of the same page.

I've just finished uploading the pictures for six more of the Pizza Hut Mini Transforming Playsets. The six I've just uploaded are 2-1B, Bossk, Duros, Royal Guard, Stormtrooper and Weequay. I thought at one time that I had completed that collection, but I have since discovered some evidence that there are two more that I haven't come across yet: 4-LOM and Luke Skywalker. I have never seen pictures of these two single packs, but I hope to find them soon.

These are neat little sets that are a lot of fun, even though they aren't as nice as the Transforming Playsets which will be my next update.

Well, for the last three days I have gone through my entire website and made sure that my code conforms to the W3C standards. There was a lot of places that I used XHTML when I shouldn't have been doing that, and so there was a lot of fixing required. There were a couple places where I had used XHTML tags while updating my databases, and I fixed most of them. The only ones I didn't fix were the ones that would take far more time than they were worth, such as news posts.

Anyways, to make a long story short, All my code is now validated through the W3C online validator, and now I will start adding more content again!

I like the set and I've added my thoughts to the page as well so you can go check it out if you want.

I'm still playing around with layout as I'm not entirely happy with how I currently have it set up, but it will always be there on the page.

New Update

Well, quick update tonight. I just finished reading X-wing: Rogue Squadron again, so I wrote a quick commentary for it and added it to the site. It can be found right here if you are so inclined to read it. Also I finally got around to opening my Fine Molds Jedi Starfighter model kit and started building it. Little tip for all you amateur model builders out there like myself. The fact that the instructions are all in Japanese isn't too difficult to overcome. That there are over 170 decals to be applied to the model isn't even the most frustrating thing about it. No, what has me pulling my hair out is that, with time, waterslide decals will fuse to the backing. Normally, you place the decal in water for about 10 seconds, then let it sit for another 30 seconds after which it will slide right off the backing and right on to the model. Apparently though, after the sticker sheet is around three years old the decals begin to take longer to soak. This particular model is around 7 to 8 years old so the decals only come off the backing if they sit in water for at least 3-5 minutes. Occasionally it will even take up to 10 minutes of soaking and sitting, and even then they may not come off smoothly. On the bright side I don't believe I'll need to do anything to the model to give it the appearance of use. Of course I will post pictures once I'm finished.

In other news, I really like Lightbox. I am beginning to implement it throughout the site, replacing my current pop-up window. I should be done in a few days.

I finished reading X-wing: Wedge's Gamble, so I've added that to the New Republic page. I made the mistake of neglecting to put in the published date for it, so when I went back in to do that, I accidentally changed the publish date of all 318 records in that database to 1996. 7 hours later it was all fixed again.

On the bright side I decided to go with shadowbox instead of lightbox because I thought it looked a little slimmer, and that is now updated across the site.

I have added a new section to my Titanium Series page. With the many varieties of deco on different vehicles in the Titanium Series, I felt that it would be important to have a place where you could see all the varieties together. When you navigate to the Titanium Series page you will now be presented with an option to view Comparison Pictures, as well as the original options. I hope this proves to be an invaluable resource to all other collectors out there.

I finally uploaded all the remaining Titanium Series Forged Figures that I hadn't previously uploaded. I now have pictures of every released Forged Figure in the Star Wars brand, including the very elusive Jango Fett.
Jango was the last figure released, but I believe he was going to be the first of the next series. When you take a look at his pictures you'll see that the display stand he came with was shaped quite differently than that of all the previously released figures. I believe that all the cancelled figures were going to have this new stand design.

In the last couple days I've finished re-reading the next couple of the X-wing books and added them to the site. I've also gone through and updated a large number up card back descriptions in the Action Fleet section. I now only have a small few card backs to find so I can finish that project.

On the upgrade front, I've had a few people looking for link images. Until now I didn't really have a place to put thise, so I added a page where they can be found. In my left hand column is now a text button that says "Link To Me!". Clicking on that will take you to my link images.

I've finished of the Micro Machines vehicle 3-packs by adding Collections number 8 and 14 as well as the X-Ray Fleet Collection 3. I've also added the Galaxy Battle Collector's Set, Episode I collections 8, 9 and 10, Pod Racer Pack 1 and one Build Your Own Podracer Set.

Coming soon will be the Gold Classic Series and most of the original Micro Machines Die-Cast collection as well as more books when I finish them.

Well, so far this year I've been doing well with my goal to update more often. In the last 10 days I have finished reading the Thrawn Trilogy, X-wing #8 and Jedi Academy #1: Jedi Search. I've uploaded synopses for these books in the New Republic section of the Literature page.

In other news, I've finally added pictures of the four different Titanium Series Wal-Mart gift packs that were released in 2005 and 2006. These gift packs each contained 5 Titanium vehicles that had been previously released. All of the vehicles had deco changes though some were very minor. The big selling point of these gift packs was that they each contained a "Raw Metal" variant of a previous vehicle. These are raw metal only in the sense that, for the most part, they don't have any paint or sticker applications on them. These are really nice sets that I would recommend if you can find them for a reasonable price.

Since the end of April I've done a lot of reading. Unfortunately, I've not been real good about updating this here website with synopses and mini reviews. So last night I spent the time to sit down and add synopses for the remaining two Jedi Academy books, Jedi Academy: Leviathan, and all the stories from the X-wing Rogue Squadron Omnibuses. I also added one of my Titanium series vehicles, Jango Fett's battle-damaged Slave I,

I finished adding in summaries for the so-called "Callista" trilogy. Not an actual series of books in Star Wars literature, it encompassed "Children Of the Jedi", "Darksaber", and "Planet Of Twilight". It's sometimes called the Callista trilogy simply because the character of Callista features prominently in all three books.

Massive Titanium Series Update

I really need to remember to update the front page more often. I am always Making slight changes or adding something little here or there, but in the last week I have made a significant update to the Titanium Series section. I added 88 different Titanium vehicles to the website, which brings me up to date. Aside from the two new Titanium items I just received in the mail, all my Titanium vehicles are uploaded. In addition to that I reworked my Titanium Series comparison page where you can see pictures of all the different variants of each vehicle. Part of the rework included adding all my current comparison pictures as well.

Aside from Titanium Series, in the last couple months I finished reading all my books and stories that take place in the New Republic era and so there are brief synopses for all of those up now as well and can be found on the literature page.

I've added synopses for the next book in the New Jedi Order series, Dark Tide I: Onslaught and for the new tie-in novel The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance. I enjoyed both of them very well and I only had one real complaint about Fatal Alliance. I have to admit that it really bothered me how everyone refers to the planet Nal Hutta as simply Hutta. After knowing it as Nal Hutta for many years, everytime they called it simply Hutta really took me out of the story. Other than that it was a really good read.

Just a quick update to explain that I'm still working behind the scenes here. You'd think that without a job I'd be able to do a little more, but apparently not. I have finished reading and summarising all the novels in the original New Jedi Order series and have put them in their appropriate sections. I only have the Dark Nest Trilogy and a couple short stories and I will be done with that Era for now. I have also uploaded my Titanium Series checklists and they can be found on my Titanium Series collection page, here.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the chance to read again the entire Legacy of the Force series. I'd forgotten how emotional it was at times to read about how far a well intentioned but misled person could sink. So, it's been a few months since I've posted anything on the front page here. I have a lot of content waiting to be added to this site, so I'm going to make more of an effort to update regularly. I'd like to make a front page post a couple times a week, but I am realistic enough to realize that it may not work out that way. We'll see.

For now, I've added a few items to the collection. The majority of my recent additions are story synopses. In the Old Republic Era I've added The Old Republic: Revan, The Old Republic: The Third Lesson, The Old Republic: The Lost Suns and Knight Errant. I added the stories from the Droids Omnibus to the Rise Of the Empire era and the stories from the Early Victories Omnibus and the short story "Vader Adrift" to the Rebellion era. The New Jedi Order had a couple additions with "A Fair Trade" and the latest installment in the Invasion comic series, the Legacy era was updated with the short story "First Blood", and I also added the Visionaries graphic novel and Chewbacca and the Slavers Of the Shadowlands. My final recent update is one of my holy grails of collecting, the Action Fleet Series Alpha Trade Federation Droid Fighter.

Action Fleet

So, in the last few days, I have prepared pictures for all the Action Fleet items I haven't uploaded. First off is the "Battle Packs". In 2002, when Hasbro began re-releasing Action Fleet items, they repacked a number of items from the original battle packs. Each item came with a couple small vehicles/animals and a figure or two that related. I held off on getting these because, like the vehicles, I had them already and didn't want to spend more money on something I already had. Eventually, I broke down and got them, just to have a complete collection, and I can say that they definitely weren't worth getting if you already had earlier releases. My biggest complaint with them are that the figures are glued down to the vehicles, and are not removeable without damaging them. Regardless, you can see pictures of them in the Battle Packs section of the site. Next up is three vehicles from 2002; the AT-AT, the Millennium Falcon, and the X-wing. Like the battle packs, I held off on these originally, because I already had them from previous years. Unlike the battle packs, I was glad I eventually got these, mostly because they had significantly different paint applications, even though battle damaged R2-D2 is permanently glued into the X-wing. Pictures of these can be found in the Action Fleet Vehicles section of the site. Last update for today is my final Series Alpha item, the Naboo Starfighter. I was thrilled to get this, even though I spent a bit more money than I had hoped to. Pictures of it are in the Series Alpha section.

I'd apologize to my readers about the long delay in updates, but I'm pretty certain that if I ever had any readers, I probably don't any anymore due to the sporadicness of my updates. That being said, I actually have a lot of content to add to this site, so I don't want it to be dead yet.

I have just completed a transfer from my old hosting with the now defunct hey.nu network to a new VPS with Digital Ocean, and I figured I'd commemorate it with a new update. I have added 28 Star Wars Insider covers catching me up from 2010 to now. I can't promise I'm going to be consistent with updates, but I do have quite a lot of content to add, so I hope to be more on the ball than I have been.

I am finding myself getting caught in the rut that I've been in for years. I get so caught up on creating my content for updates that I never actually get around to updating, leaving me with folders full of files gathering dust, so to speak.

Tonight I've added a couple of stories to the Old Republic section that I'm surprised I hadn't added already, but you know what they say, better late than never! My new additions are both from the Tales of the Jedi series, "Dark Lords Of the Sith" and "Redemption", both found most recently in the Tales Of the Jedi Omnibus, Volume 2.While looking over the other stories in those omnibuses, I realized that I didn't have actual synopses for most of the other Tales Of the Jedi stories, so I went ahead and rewrote those for all the stories in Omnibus Volume 1 and "The Sith War" in Omnibus Volume 2. In addition, I recently finished off the Fate Of the Jedi series and wrote synopses for "Fate Of the Jedi: Ascension" and "Fate Of the Jedi: Apocalypse" which unfortunately turned out to be rather long. In my defense, there were a lot of things that happened in those stories, and I wanted to include most of it.

My next project is to go through the rest of the Old Republic section and finish off the stories I have there, so I can move into another Era soon. I also have some non-book related updates coming in the next few days (if I remember).

So ... lots of stories added to the Timeline. First off, I added all the rest of the Knights Of the Old Republic stories found in issues 19-50, as well as re-writing where necessary the previous issues as well. I also added the short story "The Last Battle of Colonel Jace Malcom". Moving on to the Rise Of the Empire era, I added the comic stories "Boba Fett Is Dead", "Agent of the Empire: Iron Eclipse", "Agent of the Empire: Hard Targets", "Dark Times: Out Of the Wilderness" and the short story "The Tenebrous Way". In addition, I also added "Crimson Empire III: Empire Lost" to the New Republic section and the Dark Forces trilogy of books to their various sections.

I've also written a large number of more reviews and am looking to upload them sometime soon, once I have determined where they all fit.

Found in the Old Republic section are "The Old Republic: Deceived", "The Old Republic: Annihilation" and the first part of "Darth Bane: Rule of Two". And since I started with Bane, I figured I'd finish him off, so the second part of "Darth Bane: Rule of Two" and "Darth Bane: Dynasty Of Evil" can be found early in the Rise of the Empire Era. In addition, I discovered that some more of my synopses were badly lacking in detail, so I updated "Shadows and Light", "Unseen, Unheard", "Bane of the Sith", "Darth Bane: Path Of Destruction" and "Jedi vs. Sith" in the Old Republic Era. Enjoy!

Japanese Action Fleet

I'm back with something special! In the Miscellaneous Action Fleet section here, I have added a group of five Gacha items from Japan. What is Gacha you may ask? Gacha is a word that represents capsule toys released by Tomy, and in this case it was two series of five toys consisting of previously released figures and small vehicles from the Action Fleet line.

Why then, if they were all previously released, would I bother to collect them? Because they were released on the cutest little blister packs! Seriously. I am an opener, I open everything and yet I refuse to open these because the packaging is so cute. Sadly, all I have is the first series because the second series has proven rather difficult to track down, but one day they shall all be mine, yes indeed.

Series 1 consisted of five packages; a Battle Droid on its STAP, Darth Maul and his Sith Speeder, one Destroyer Droid, Jar Jar Binks with Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi with TC-14. They are glorious, and they can be viewed right here.

I'm still here! (I think?...)

I guess this is my semi-irregular post indicating that I am still alive and that I do intend to continue updating this website. There's been a lot happen in the last few months in regards to Star Wars. What with Disney buying Lucasfilm and the new movies coming, there are a lot of changes.

The biggest change as it applies to me is the sacrifice of the Expanded Universe on the alter of Episode VII: The Force Awakens. This will necessitate a change on my books/comics timeline page, though I'm not entirely certain how I'm going to change it, especially since I was already considering changes thanks to the Clone Wars episodes and books messing up that bit of the timeline. No matter, frustrating though it is, I'm not one the few very angry people out there, and there will be change soon.

In the meantime, I have uploaded the covers from the Star Wars Insider from the last two years and brought me up to date on that. Those can be found at the bottom of the Star Wars Insider page, found here.

Titanium is Back!

Wow, it looks like after a few years the Titanium series has been resurrected. Six years ago Hasbro discontinued the Titanium series, and after a botched attempt to bring them back three years later, I thought they would never see the light of day again. Instead, here we are at the start of the merchandising push Star Wars: The Force Awakens and not only has the Titanium series been brought back, but so has the Micro Machines line. With this in mind I figured I would try and bring my catalog of the Titanium series up to date. Hopefully this will be done in the next couple days.

Titanium Series Caught Up

So I've caught up on the Titanium Series. What that means is that I've added all the pictures for any items that I had before this new Black Series relaunch of the Titanium Series and Micro Machines, concluding with the 2012 3-Pack aborted relaunch. I have the last three of those on the way, which leaves me with only about 5 items I still need to get, though I may never find them. With this done, I can now focus on getting pictures up of the new stuff.

Black Series Titanium, Part 1

So I've finished with the pictures for the first group of Black Series Titanium vehicles that I bought. I picked up the 4-Pack as well as the First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter, First Order Star Destroyer, Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle, Resistance X-wing and Rey's Speeder (Jakku). Clicking on the name in this post will take you to the page for each item, or you could just go to the bottom of the Titanium Series 3" vehicle page and they are all right there.

Thoughts in general? It's nice to get new Titanium Series vehicles, but I feel that the quality just isn't quite up to the previous standard. Starting with the new stand, it just feels a bit more flimsy and lower quality than I'd like. The metal just feels a little lighter, and any plastic is definitely less dense. That being said, the new vehicles on the whole look nice to me and don't really stand out as out of place in my collection.

A Small Update

I wasn't sure if I would ever come back to this, even though I love my collection and I'm very proud of my website. I've had a very challenging few years, coupled with feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work needed to update my website. I have decided therefore to narrow my focus and thereby try to decrease the amount of stress I feel when it comes to documenting my collection.

There will be a few changes to different sections of this website over the next few months, some may be eliminated entirely and others may be modified to decrease the amount of work needed. Several will see no changes except to be updated, and on that note, I have added pictures and information for a rare variant of the Action Fleet Rancor where the Luke Skywalker figure is not holding a large bone.
