X-wing Fighter
Luke Skywalker flew an X-wing into battle against the Galactic Empire in the assault against the Death Star. This ship helped lead the outnumbered Rebel Alliance to a spectacular victory. It is named for its pair of double-layered wings that resemble an "X" in combat formation. The fighter features powerful laser cannons and proton torpedo launchers. With its reinforced titanium-alloy hull and defensive shields, the X-wing can sustain minor hits and still perform at a high level.

TIE Fighter
The Sienar Fleet Systems TIE fighter is an ultra-fast, highly maneuverable ship that is both difficult to hit and difficult to pilot. The TIE is controlled by pedal and hand-held yokes that are notoriously tricky to maneuver. Armed only with a pair of forward-mounted, fire-linked laser cannons, TIE fighters have no secondary weapons systems or shields. The Empire considers them expendable, and their strength in battle is derived from their numbers.
