Long before the vehicles of the Star Wars saga entered into battle in a galaxy far, far away, concept artists illustrated many versions. For each film in the Star Wars trilogy, rough sketches for the vehicles were refined and perfected. Series Alpha gives you a glimpse of the imaginative contribution of these artists and designers. A booklet with sketches by the original artists is included in each package, along with the concept vehicle and its final design.
Rebel Snowspeeder as seen in The Empire Strikes Back
The Alliance fleet of one dozen Rebel snowspeeders played a pivotal role in the Battle of Hoth. Under siege from Imperial AT-AT walkers, the snowspeeders delayed the assault and gave Rebel leaders a chance to escape. Snowspeeders were developed as a modification of the Incom T-47 airspeeders. They were designed with exposed circuitry for easy repair and maintenance.
Luke Skywalker Rebel Pilot Snowspeeder pilots often serve as terrain surveillance officers, speeding across cold planets. Luke piloted a snowspeeder across icy terrain during the Battle of Hoth.
Rebel Gunner (Concept Design Uniform) Seated back-to-back behind the pilot, the gunner controls the forward laser cannons and rear-mounted harpoon launcher.
