Aboard the Uhumele, Captain Schurk-Heren and the remains of his crew are trying to convince Dass Jennir to join forces with them and Beyghor Sahdett in finding another Jedi and luring Darth Vader into a trap. After much consideration, Jennir agrees to join them if he can find a way to present the plan to another possible Jedi. On Coruscant, Darth Vader is working to turn the bounty hunter Falco Sang into an Imperial tool while Jennir and his friends search unsuccessfully for their missing Jedi. After a visit to Rion, Ratty informs Jennir that he has all of the things he needs, but Bomo Greenbark becomes suspicious that Jennir is keeping secrets again. When Bomo confronts him though, Jennir uses the Force to make him forget about it. Several days later, they arrive at Kestavel where Jennir finds the Jedi he was looking for, Master Kai Hudorra, running a casino. Hudorra lets Sahdett explain his plan and then asks if Jennir knows that Sahdett is lying. Jennir answers affirmatively and explains that's why he needs Hudorra's assistance, because he doesn't think that he can take Sahdett by himself. He learns he is correct when he fight reaches the casino floor and Jennir is knocked down by Sahdett. Before Jennir can be killed, Sahdett is attacked by Mezgraf and Ko Vakier, with the former losing a hand and the latter losing his life. During the fight, Bomo uses his ability to stun using a bright light from his mouth, which distracts Sahdett long enough for Jennir to stab him and Hudorra to defeat him. On Coruscant, Vader's assistant receives a call from the Emperor telling him where Jennir can be found, while Sahdett reveals how he became the Emperor's tool. He was among a group of Jedi taken before the Emperor, who gave them all their weapons and told them to fight among themselves for freedom. They attacked the Emperor and were quickly defeated, and Sahdett saw the raw power the Emperor wielded before turning against his comrades. As Hudorra and Jennir prepare for the arrival of Darth Vader, the remaining crew of the Uhumele and Hudorra's staff vow to help, reasoning that if they can bring down Vader, their deaths will be worthwhile. While they prepare their defenses, Hudorra learns all about how Jennir has followed the path of the Jedi, even in exile. Later, Hudorra's staff prepares a feast for Jennir and his friends where Hudorra explains that they will all leave rather than die in a plan that was intended to fail, while he remains behind to try and defeat Vader. As the Empire prepares it's ground assault, Falco Sang is left in his ship with orders to stop anyone from escaping through the air. As Vader and his troops approach the doors to the casino, they spring the final trap which douses them in engine fuel which is then lit on fire, leaving only Vader surviving. He breaks past the entrance, demanding that Jennir face him, but is instead met by Master Hudorra. They duel, and just as it appears that Hudorra is defeated, he pulls out a trigger for a bomb that will level the casino. Vader kills him before he can set off the bomb, but when he refuses to give up Jennir, Vader kills him and takes the trigger to find Jennir himself. Breaking into the room where he believes Jennir to be hiding, Vader finds Sahdett instead, who begs to be released so he can return to their master, who recruited him so that the Jedi would no longer be a distraction to Vader. Vader kills Sahdett, and in his rage accidentally triggers the bomb. Sang comes to his rescue instead of shooting down the Uhumele and Vader states that even though they didn't kill Jennir, the mission was a success because two Jedi died. Back on the Uhumele the escapees listen to Hudorra explain that this was his chance to do what Jennir had been doing all along, and help save the Jedi by making sure that at least one spark remained alive.
