The Han Solo Trilogy 3: Rebel Dawn (Pages 1-109)
Cover Artist: Drew Struzan
After cashing in everything he had, Han Solo finally arrives at Cloud City on Bespin for the big Sabacc tournament. Unbeknownst to the gamblers, several fledgling Rebel groups including Corellia's led by Bria Tharen, are using it as a cover for a meeting. In her time between meetings, she occasionally cheers on Han because she wants him to have something good happen for once. By the evening of the final day of the tournament, he has managed to hang on and won enough money to almost be able to buy his own ship, but he decides to hang on rather than drop out. After a while, there is he, Lando Calrissian and one other left and it looks like he is going to lose the hand when the cards change and he is left with a hand that only one other can beat. Betting almost all of the rest of his credits, the other player decides to fold, leaving only Han and Lando left. Without enough credits to match the bet, Lando offers a marker good for any ship on his spaceship lot and Han accepts it. He calls and Lando flips his cards over. At first it looks like he has won until he flips over his last card and reveals a losing hand. Han is the winner of the tournament, and when Lando tries to tell him about some of the nice ships on his lot, Han claims the Millennium Falcon. Lando is angry but agrees, and later Han lends him some of his winnings so Lando can get a start again before Han returns to Nar Shaddaa to take Chewbacca home for the first time in 53 years. Elsewhere in the bar, Bria sits down with a young woman named Winter who makes her realize that these talks have made an impression and that there is a chance for a Rebel Alliance. On Nal Hutta, Durga the Hutt continues investigations into the death of his parent Aruk, not realizing that he is being stymied by Black Sun, which wants a foothold in Hutt Space. After some minor work on the Falcon, Han, Chewie and Jarik "Solo" leave for Kashyyyk with a cargo of weapons for the Wookiees. They arrive without incident and while Han begins negotiations for his cargo after learning that Bria had been there about a year before with the Corellian rebellion, Chewie finds his lost love Mallatobuck and proposes. She tells him that she has been waiting for more than fifty years and accepts. They marry, and when Han prepares to leave without him, Chewie insists on upholding his life debt.
