Through many twists and turns, Hark has tracked down Imperial General Cascaan to the Entiia system to the city of Oolan and has opened negotiations with him. In the false identity of Seddia Chaan, she has arranged to meet him at a bar, but is unable to locate him at first, and when she finally does find him, he looks nothing like she expects, haunted and broken. She sits down with him to complete their negotiations as an Imperial interrogator arrives at the building and begins making his way to them. While her slicer droid stalls the interrogator, Hask tries to convince Cascaan to turn over the data, but he insists on telling her how he got to this point. He explains that when he carried out an attack on innocents, survivors would come to him afterwards, desperate to sell him information. He feels like they would even sell him their own mothers. He tells her that he won't become like them and he can't take her money, as she learns that the interrogator will be there in moments. Needing more time with him, she excuses herself and finds the interrogator in an elevator and sedates him. By the time she returns to the table, Cascaan is gone, but he left the credits and data for her. She sees him walking away, no longer a broken man, but one at peace with himself, going to meet his fate.
