With the battle on New Plympto all but finished, Jedi Dass Jennir and Bomo Greenbark lead the rest of their forces in an effort to allow the females and younglings to escape. They try to distract the clonetroopers, but fall into a hole in time to avoid the slaughter of the remainder of the troops. When they get out, they make their way to the spaceport to find Bomo's family, only to learn from the crew of the Uhumele that none of Bomo's race made it away safely, they were all taken as slaves. They decide they need to get off planet, but with the Empire cracking down, they are unlikely to get away safely. Dass then steals an Imperial fighter and uses it to strafe the spaceport, convincing all the transports to make a break for it, and then rejoins the Uhumele. They make for Orvax IV where they learn that Bomo's mate Mesa was killed while trying to prevent his daughter Resa from being taken. Dass sends them back to the ship and finds the home of the being who sold Resa. He is directed to Dezono Qua on Esseles, and then kills the slaver to avoid being followed. The crew of the Uhumele agrees to help them find the child, so they go to Esseles and find Dezono. They assault his palace, deactivating his guards and confront him to find her location, only to be told that she is already dead. When asked why he would buy a slave only to kill her, he tells them it was because he wanted to eat her, and that she was delicious. Dass kills Dezono and Bomo berates him for not letting him have his vengeance and for thinking he knew best, like Jedi normally thought. With Dass revealed as a Jedi, he takes Dezono's ship and leaves, in order to keep his new acquaintances safe from the people coming after him.
