An unknown individual infiltrates the Imperial prison where Janks is being held to interrogate him about Dass Jennir, before killing Janks and escaping from Darth Vader. Shortly afterwards, the crew of the Uhumele lands on Telerath looking for Jennir as well, before being told that he had left two weeks before for Vondarc. Unknown to anyone else, Jennir and Ember Chankeli had crash-landed on Prine shortly after they left. After hiking across the desert for the last two weeks, Ember is captured by slavers shortly after the unknown individual lands on Prine, near Jennir's ruined ship, and begins to follow their trail. Meanwhile, the Uhumele lands on Vondarc and infiltrates the Imperial network with the help of their new Verpine Jedi crew member to see if they can find any information as to what happened to Jennir. On Prine, the unknown individual finds the tracks of the slaver caravan and sets an ambush ahead of their path, only to be surprised that Jennir wasn't with the caravan. After sifting throught the stolen data on the Uhumele, the crew determines where Jennir is as the crew on Darth Vader's flagship discover this newest security breach while Jennir attacks the caravan to save Ember. He fights his way through the raiders to where Ember and another captive named Maddie are held, but as he tries to rescue them the unknown individual attempts to kill Jennir. Jennir and Maddie escape from the raiders while the assassin captures Ember and uses her to set a trap for Jennir. Elsewhere on Prine, the crew of the Uhumele finds the wreckage of one of the fighters that Jennir downed and so continue their search as Jennir returns to rescue Ember after sending Maddie home. As Jennir approaches Ember, he is shot from hiding by the assassin, only to show that it was his droid in disguise as he captures the assassin. The assassin reveals that he was hired by the family of Dezono Qua to eliminate Jennir and the crew of the Uhumele. After he reveals that he has killed Janks, he springs the erst of his trap and has his droid shoot Ember. His follow up attempt to kill Jennir fails, and in the confusion he makes his escape while Jennir tries to heal Ember before collapsing and passing out. He awakens in the sick bay of the Uhumele and he and Bomo catch each other up on the loss they have all experienced, and Jennir is overjoyed to find that Ember survived. As the crew recuperates from their adventures, the assassin is captured by Darth Vader, who promises to take his time learning the assassin's secrets about Dass Jennir.
