After their recent adventures at Nar Shaddaa, C-3P0 and R2-D2 find themselves in the possession of Jake Harthan of the Tion Hegemony. The Hegemony is currently in negotiations with the Troobs and the Hobors of Tahlboor. They wish to open up trading with the planet, but first there must be peace on the planet, and it appears that the different races are unwilling. C-3P0 helps to translate truthfully between the two races, which results in him being won in a sabbacc game by Madam Krax. In retaliation, Chief Nimondro of the Hobors demonstrates a technological power that was previously unknown on the planet and insists that he be allowed to purchase R2-D2, the "lucky one". Negotiations are relocated to the planet surface, where Madam Krax's son Ket is apparently murdered by the Hobors. R2-D2 begs C-3P0 for help, which allows them to bluff the true murderer into revealing himself. As jake Harthan tries to cover up what he's done, the truth comes out. He wanted the Troobs and the Hobors to eradicate each other so that he could take possession of the ancient technology uncovered by the Hobors. With the truth revealed, the leaders of the people of Tahlboor take time to grieve for their losses and renew their determination for peace based on understanding. The droids depart for their next adventures with Jake Harthan's father.
