While C-3P0 and R2-D2 worked for Baron Pitareeze, they had the misfortune of running up against Olag Greck and his henchmen several times, as well as other criminals with nefarious plans. When young Nak Pitareeze learned that his family could have been very wealthy if it wasn't for Olag, he tried to trick Olag into thinking he would sell him his grandfather's hyperdrive prototype. This resulted in a hostage situation that C-3P0 helped Nak escape from as the Baron and R2-D2 pulled a fast one on Olag the resulted in him losing a lot of his status and possessions. A short while later, the droids are crewing aboard the Pitareeze's tour ship when they are hijacked by pirates. Forcing everyone off the ship except for Nak, C-3P0 and R2-D2, the pirates fly to their hideout as Nak escapes in a lifepod. Through a series of events, R2-D2 finds himself leader of the pirate band that is really nothing more than a group of chefs that were double-crossed by Olag Greck. Meanwhile, Nak was captured by Olag, who forced him to help destroy the pirates, but he was foiled by a late arriving pirate. As Olag makes his escape, the pirates decide to atone for their criminal ways and they return their captives after taking what Olag left behind. Later, the droids are traveling with the Baron when C-3P0 sustains some damage. Leaving the droids behind with some money to repair the damage, R2-D2 is abducted by Olag Greck and modified to operate a Manadalorian Battle Harness while C-3P0 receives repairs that make him resemble the assassin droid C-3PX. C-3P0 is forced into the ring in a droid death match against R2-D2, and the only way he is saved is when the real C-3PX shows up and takes his place. A short time later, the droids are rented by Captain Forno, an associate of Olag Greck's, who wants to use them to harvest valuable crystals from the moon Indobok. Her plan is only partly successful, because the guardians of the crystals overlooked the droids until they stole a crystal, and Forno leaves C-3P0 behind as she escapes. Ejecting R2-D2 into space, she sells the crystal and hires mercenaries to help her obtain more crystals. When she returns to the moon, she discovers that the Pitareeze family is there with the droids to help the guardians because the crystals are alive and related to the guardians. Forno and her mercenaries are captured and turned over to the authorities for trial. Back on Kalarba, Nak buys an old non-functioning hulk of a droid from a disreputable business man named Vuldo. While they are concluding their business, two Model-E droids that run the local nursery happen upon them. When questioned about where the third of their number is, they claim he is in the shop and make a quick escape. The 2 droids return to the nursery where they reveal that their third no longer exists as a droid like them. Meanwhile R2-D2's curiosity gets the better of him, and he follows the 2 other droids back to the nursery where he learns that Vuldo is forcing the Model-E droids to build illegal weapons for him and that he was the one who destroyed the third Model-E droid. Just then, Vuldo arrives and catches R2-D2 as he finishes learning the truth, and as he is about to be destroyed, Nak's new droid body breaks down the wall, incapacitating Vuldo. Vuldo is taken into custody, and Nak agree's to let his droid body become the body for the third Model-E droid, as his partners had saved his memory and processor. Later, on Hosk Station, the Baron is in negotiations when the evacuation alarm sounds. He rounds up as many people as he can to save them, but there are two too many to fit on his ship. C-3P0 and R2-D2 volunteer to stay behind so that as many living beings as possible can escape. Alone on the station, the two wander until they come across a gathering of leaderless droids. While these droids try to decide what to do, the head of Automated Security, Unit Zed comes upon the group and recruits them to assist him in saving the station. They make their way to the reactor where they find a Mistress Trillka attempting to fix a sabotage job. Trillka informs them that Olag Greck is responsible for the sabotage, and he did it so he could steal a very valuable cargo with out interference. Unit Zed leads the droids to try and stop Greck, while C-3P0 remains behind to help Trillka. Unit Zed's team arrives at the outside surface of the station and are set upon by a wrecking droid that has been reprogrammed to serve Greck. While they do battle, C-3P0 and Trillka discover that they can't stop the sabotage, but they can redirect the damage to the void of space. R2-D2 helps Unit Zed to defeat the wrecking droid just as the reactor goes critical, forcing Greck to lose much of his cargo. With the catastrophe averted, Unit Zed deputizes R2-D2 and C-3P0 so they can hunt down Greck, and stop him once and for all. With the blessing of the Pitareeze family, the droids agree to accompany him, and they are off to their next adventure.
