C-3P0 and R2-D2 have been sold by Master Wena to a junk trader and are in transit to the Kalarba system, when a fellow passenger, IG-88, awakens and goes berserk. IG-88 forces R2-D2 to help him, while C-3P0 assists the criminal Olag Greck to track them. Just before IG-88 can escape, he is captured, but makes his escape in the confusion of a smoke bomb, this time accompanied by both R2-D2 and C-3P0 as he steals a ship and escapes Hosk Station. As Olag and his team chase them through the canyons, IG-88 sets a trap and C-3P0 and R2-D2 escape in a lifepod before IG-88 gets away. The lifepod lands in a lake on Kalarba and the droids find themselves in the employ of Baron Pitareeze and his family.
