With their pleas for help from the Republic going unheard, the Kaleesh general Qymaen jai Sheelal boards a shuttle to return to the battle. Before he can complete his journey, the shuttle is destroyed with his escape pod launching at the last minute. His pod is recovered by a Banking Clan barge and he is rescued from the edge of death by Count Dooku. He is taken to Geonosis where San Hill convinces him to join their cause in exchange for a new body, as his is no more than a head and torso. Count Dooku prepares a blood transfusion from the body of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. After several months, Count Dooku reports to Darth Sidious that the experiment appears successful while Sheelal in his new body destroys all the magna-droids around him, declaring he is not a droid, he is General Grievous.
