Obi-Wan Kenobi is traveling to Alderaan aboard a pleasure cruiser when he is approached by a droid that is going there as well to enter service with Bail Organa. As the droid explains that it would like to travel with Obi-Wan in order to avoid anti-droid bigots, they are set upon by one such bigot. The bigot refuses to stand down and dies as a result of attacking Kenobi. Kenobi is then approached by a criminal named Augustus Tryll who wants Kenobi to enter into a partnership with him. Naturally Obi-Wan turns him down, then he and the droid retire to his cabin as the cruiser drops out of hyperspace to traverse a difficult asteroid belt. Several hours later Obi-Wan is summoned to the bridge where he is shown four Merson raider ships that are flying nearby. Suddenly the ships swerve to attack the cruiser that should be successfully hidden, leading Obi-Wan to believe that there must be some sort of signal being transmitted from the ship. He is given command of the ship and its defenses, and using the distraction of the asteroids he defeats all four of the raider ships, the last two at the exact same time. While the ships crew searches for the transmitter, Kenobi goes down to the passenger lounge to ease people's concerns. He arrives in time to save Tryll from being attacked by the rest of the passengers who have had too much to drink and are afraid of being sold into slavery. When they begin to turn on him, Obi-Wan pulls his lightsaber out and destroys the fermentation machine because he has determined that the signal is being transmitted from there. Safe once again, the cruiser continues along its way to its destinations.
