Several months before the Battle Of Coruscant, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have been given leave. Anakin is spending his leave on Naboo with Padmé Amidala, and Obi-Wan is using his to track down Asajj Ventress, who he believes still lives. He receives a lead that takes him to Maramere, and on his way there he persuades Anakin to join him. While they are waiting, a ship drops out of hyperspace nearby. The entire crew of the ship is dead, and it is teeming with Battle Droids, so they board to see if they can help. It turns out it's a trap set by Durge, who wants to eliminate them once and for all. Obi-Wan leaves Anakin to fight Durge while he finds Durge's ship and recovers a droid's head that will give them navigational data. In the meantime, Anakin weakens Durge enough to force him into an escape pod, which he then sends hurtling into the nearby sun. The two Jedi escape the ship and are picked up by a Republic Cruiser commanded by Bail Organa. Data in the droid's head tells them that there might be something important at Boz Pity, so they set course for that system, joined by Mace Windu and a large strike force of Jedi. Events cause them to crash land on Boz Pity, where battle is immediately joined with the Separatists. As they get close to the Confederacy base, General Grievous joins the fray, killing several Jedi before being stopped by Mace. Obi-Wan penetrates the base, and finds Ventress in a bacta tank being repaired, and while he laments Ventress' circumstances Count Dooku walks up and insists that Ventress was the one who wanted all this done to her. Ventress breaks out of her tank in order to fight Obi-Wan, and while they are dueling, Dooku retrieves Grievous and escapes from the battlefield. Ventress realizes that Dooku has abandoned her, and tries one last time to kill Obi-Wan as Anakin stops her. She appears to die and is loaded onto a medical frigate, where she wakes up and commandeers it to escape from Jedi and Dooku both.
