Jedi Gira is protecting the last group of Jedi Padawans, and the Imperial forces led by Darth Vader are overwhelming him. At the end he is willing to give up his own life so that the padawans will be safe, but his life is not something Vader wants. Darth Vader convinces Gira that if he will turn to the Dark Side, the padawans will go free. After much soul searching, Gira decides that if the lives of the padawans will be saved by his fall, then it is a worthwhile sacrifice. Upon seeing Gira relinquish the light, Vader orders the padawans killed. The Emperor was more interested in seeing Gira broken than working for him, so Gira ends his own life.
