The Empire commissions Boba Fett to hunt down the deserter Han Solo, but Darth Vader disagrees with that decision. He is given permission to track down Solo himself, and he finally catches up with him on Tatooine, at about the same time Boba Fett does. They begin fighting over Solo and Fett pulls out a lightsaber to duel Vader with. In the process, Solo escapes from them and attaches his ship to the command structure of the Star Destroyer, preparing to detach with the rest of the garbage. It is a maneuver he hopes to never have to repeat.
