Medstar II: Jedi Healer
Michael Reaves, Steve Perry
Medstar II: Jedi Healer
Cover Artist: David Seeley
This story is a continuation of the events from Medstar I: Battle Surgeons and Medstar: Intermezzo. Jos Vondar is still coping with the loss of his best friend as well as his feelings for the nurse he works with. To top it all off, the replacement commander for the Medstar ship just happens to be his long-lost uncle who was disowned for marrying someone from outside his family's 'acceptable' social circle. Barriss Offee, on the other hand, feels that the reason she was sent to this world has been resolved and she should move on to other missions now.

I really enjoyed the interplay between this cast of varied people. Every character grew on me in some way, and even though I suspected who the spy was, there was sufficient doubt to keep me guessing right up until the moment of the reveal.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series of stories, the only thing that I felt was out of place was all the references to Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy series. I don't think a reference to getting drunk enough to fall and miss the ground was too bad, a simple reference like that is enough to get a laugh from those who understand it, but naming one of the drinks a 'Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster' went a little far I thought.
