This was a fairly well written book that focused more on some of the minor players in the Clone Wars than it did on the major characters. Overall, it wasn't one of my favorite books, but it certainly wasn't the worst one I'd ever read either.

As the story begins, Obi-Wan Kenobi is sent out on a small mission of his own, leaving Anakin at the Jedi Temple to get caught up on his studying. Anakin meets Nejaa Halcyon, who currently appears to be disgraced, and they become acquainted as they practice sparring together. At the same time, the Separatists have invaded Praesitlyn and taken a vital Republic communications link. Nejaa Halcyon is sent with a small force of soldiers to reinforce the defenders currently onstation and he takes Anakin with him as his second in command. The outcome of this conflict will decide Anakin's Knighthood, as well as let Anakin know that he is not alone as a Jedi who has a wife.

I know they say to never judge a book by it's cover, but the big picture of Asajj Ventress in the background on this cover led me to believe that she would have a bigger part in this story than to appear two or three times simply to threaten the Separatist military leader. I find that I really enjoy the stories with her in them, and I was a little disappointed with how little she actually showed up in this one. All told though, it was nice to read of the events that lead up to Anakin receiving his Knighthood.
