Jan, one of the rebellion's new recruits is sent on his first mission on Corellia, but it doesn't turn out like he expects. First he is captured by Imperial agents and rescued by none other than Han Solo. They outrun their pursuers, but after a quick call are found again and chased into space. Captured, they are taken prisoner and the new recruit loses faith in Han and turns on him when Han nearly gets them killed in an excape attempt. On Feddasyr, a rebel agent named Sarin has her cover blown before she can complete her mission. She's disappointed when her contact is nothing more than a princess and worries that she won't get out alive but that changes as Leia smoothly finishes carrying out the mission that Sarin was charged with, rescuing a stormtrooper who had a security code encoded into his DNA, even at the cost of her own freedom. Sarin has her sister take the trooper off planet so he can meet his next contact, Chewbacca. They arrive at an obscure outer rim planet, where they crash, leaving the pilot dead and the trooper captured by Trandoshans, until Chewie arrives and kills them. The trooper has an active hate for Wookiees, having served on Kashyyyk and lost many soldiers in the fighting. They infiltrate the capital and manage to get the information they need transferred off planet before they are captured and thrown in a rancor pit, and the trooper comes to realize that Chewbacca is a great ally, not a mere animal. On Corellia, a Bothan Imperial agent watches Luke Skywalker assist his friends in getting caught at the right place so they can be imprisoned on a space station. He then follows Luke to Feddasyr and witnesses him helping Leia to escape. He covertly assists them, telling himself that he just wants to gather their whole group before stopping them. He sneaks aboard their stolen ship as they go to rescue Chewie and the trooper, and realizes that he has found the group that make up the heart of the Rebellion. He justifies not calling for backup with the thought of taking all the credit for stopping this group. They rescue Chewie and the trooper and leave for Corellia to meet Han, who has just received a transmission from Chewie with a code. Han and Jan use the code to steal a beat up ship and escape, just as Luke arrives to provide backup. The spy then introduces himself to the friends on the ship and surrenders, because he decided he wanted to be a part of what they had. The two ships meet up and Leia reveals that the ship stolen by Han contains something needed by the Rebels at their new base, a shield generator. Everyone else then goes on to their new missions, all doing their part to bring down the Empire.
