After Ponda Baba lost his arm in a freak lightsaber accident, he and Dr. Evazan retreated to Ando where the Dr. could perform his experiments in peace. While in a dinner engagement with an Aqualish senator, Dr. Evazan is attacked by a team of apparent bounty hunters and he fights them off with the late help of Ponda Baba. In the aftermath of the battle, the senator explains the reason for his visit; he is paying a lot of money to keep Evazan safe, and not getting the return on his investment that he was hoping for. While Evazan escorts the senator down to his laboratory, a man named Gurion hiding on the outside of the building overhears their conversation and decides he has a way to get close enough to Evazan. In the lab, Evazan explains that his work had reached a dead end until he decided to work with the mind instead of the body. He has now developed a transfer device that should allow him to transfer consciousness from one body to another, thereby granting himself a form of immortality. While discussing this, Ponda Baba contacts Evazan to let him know that someone is at their gate asking to come in and call for speeder help. Seeing a perfect human specimen, Evazan decides to try the transfer device immediately, but baba protests that he should be first as Evazan owes him. Evazan agrees and they take the senator prisoner, transporting him and the unknown human down to the lab. Strapping the senator down, Evazan throws the switch, completing the transfer process. While Baba's new body appears unconscious, Evazan goes to gloat over his own new body, only to find that it was only a holoshroud hiding Gurion. On threat of death Gurion forces Evazan up to the roof, explaining that Evazan had killed and eviscerated his entire family, so he is out for revenge. Before Evazan can be taken into custody though, he manages to force Gurion off the roof. As he tries to pull himself up though, he sees Ponda Baba. It appears that Evazan's invention worked, but in reverse and the senator is now trapped in Baba's body. The senator sets of an explosive, and Evazan only manages to escape with the help of his pet, and he reflects that maybe he'll get it right the next time.
