Play It Again, Figrin D'an: The Tale Of Muftak and Kabe
Cover Artist: Stephen Youll
Muftak and Kabe are a pair of petty criminals. Both orphans, they have taken refuge together as a team that complements each other; Kabe is a pickpocket and Muftak is the muscle. Muftak was hatched on Tatooine and has no knowledge of his species or homeworld, so when they are stopped by an Imperial patrol who refers to him as a Talz, his interest is immediate. When he is asked if he has seen a pair of droids, he answers honestly that he hasn't, but before he can question the trooper further they are interrupted by a Lieutenant Alima. Recognizing that name as someone who caused his friend Momaw Nadon a great deal of difficulty in the past he leaves to pass on that information. Later, after the excitement in Chalmun's cantina, he agrees to Kabe's wish to rob Jabba's townhouse. They break in and begin their burglary when they are interrupted by a droid that knows Muftak's native language. After removing the droids restraining bolt, it explains that his homeworld is Alzoc III, and leads them to a prisoner of Jabba's. The prisoner is on death's door, but passes on information vital to the Rebellion, which they sell to the rebels for 15,000 credits and travel passes signed by Grand Moff Tarkin himself, several days after they make their escape. With travel arranged, they decide to leave Tatooine forever and go to Muftak's home world, where he has never been.
