As Luke Skywalker and the other rebels prepare for a mission that could lead them to the missing Han Solo, R2-D2 is lured down a dark tunnel by a faint cry for help. Plif and the Hoojibs inform C-3PO of this, and he recruits Chewbacca to assist him in tracking down the wayward droid. Deep in the tunnel they find a mysterious force field that surrounds an ancient city inhabited by a creature that calls itself the Darker. The Darker explains that it is made up of the dark emotions of the people who used to inhabit the planet. Apparently they found a way to hid themselves of their dark emotions and the result was the Darker. They fled the planet, leaving it trapped behind. Now it has the means to overcome its prison and it is up to the droids and Chewie to stop it, but it uses it's abilities to control Chewies emotions. After a chase, C-3PO manages to bring R2-D2 back online, and they are able to break through the Darker's control of Chewie. With the help of the Hoojibs, they destroy the Darker by bring it in contact with the force field and escape before the city is destroyed. They return to the upper levels of the base in time to join in the search for Han Solo.
