On an exploratory mission to the Shiva system to learn what purpose the Empire has there, the Rebel ship enters a minefield where they take damage sufficient to betray them to the Empire. Realizing that the only chance the ship has is if the damaged shuttle is jettisoned from within, Princess Leia does so without hesitation. Crashing on Shiva IV, she comes under fire from a group called the Outcasts. Fleeing, she is rescued by Aron Peacebringer, the warlord who has stopped the perpetual wars that plagued the planet. With Leia in tow, his scouting party continue their mission to learn what happened to the city of K'avor. Taking one look at the ruined city Leia realizes that it was destroyed by an antimatter bomb, which is technology far beyond the capability of the natives. Several weeks later, at a gala celebrating one year of peace, Leia and Aron are kidnapped from a balcony by Imperial operatives under the command of Sk'ar, a local who is in the employ of the Empire. After interrogation, Aron learns that he has been betrayed by Delois, a trusted aide. Delois explains that they will drop an antimatter bomb on the capital city as the people celebrate the peace treaty, and Sk'ar will rise to rule the world, turning it into an Imperial satrapy. After Sk'ar's assault team depart, Leia and Aron effect their escape and follow, intent on stopping them. Assaulting the ship, the fight their way to the antimatter bomb where Leia proceeds to begin disabling it. She is interrupted by Delois, but before he can kill her Luke Skywalker comes to her rescue. With the help of Luke, Chewie and Lando, Sk'ar is stopped permanently and the Imperial force is pounded into oblivion. During the resulting celebration, the heroes learn that a Imperial Star Destroyer has arrived. Against impossible odds, they lead the Destroyer on a merry chase until it is pulled into a black hole and they make good their escape.
