Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca are continuing the search for Han Solo when a malfunction of their hyperdrive opens a dimensional rift and they find themselves outside of known space. They find an asteriod with a closed city inhabited by an old Rebel hero named Cody Sunn-Childe and his followers. He explains that he used to love war for the violence and the fighting, but experienced something that convinced him he needed to embrace peace instead. Lando expresses his disagreement because he feels that violence is justified in the appropriate cause, but he is unable to convince Cody. As they complete repairs on the Falcon, an Imperial task force manages to find them and attack. As Lando fights back, Cody uses his psychic powers to create monsters to fight back, but then he changes his mind and calls the monsters back. The Imperials use the remainder of their hyperspace power to destroy Sunn-Child's city, leaving themselves trapped and defenseless. Lando takes some of Cody's ideas to heart, and leaves the Imperials to live in peace in this dimension rather than destroying them like they expected as he and Chewbacca return to known space.
