This is the standard story everyone knows. Luke Skywalker comes into possession of a pair of droids that are carrying stolen technical schematics for the Empire's Death Star. Through major loss, and with the help of Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi, he delivers the droids to the Rebel Alliance. He then joins the fighter pilots and manages to destroy the Death Star, again with the help of his friends.

The novel and the comic books follow the story as seen in the movie, with some notable exceptions. There are several deleted scenes from the movies that make appearances in both of the print versions of the story, with the comic book version being more condensed. In the novel, Luke becomes a member of Blue Squadron and eventually makes two runs down the Death Star trench. This conflicts slightly with the movie, where he is a member of Red Squadron and he makes one run down the trench. I don't know how the comic series handles this scene yet, because I don't have issues 5 or 6 of the Marvel series. All in all, these are great adaptations of a great movie; the movie that started it all!
