Many characters we've met and grown to know come together in this explosive end to the Empire series of comic books. We have Basso from Ralltiir, who was first seen in Princess ... Warrior, Able 1707, the clone trooper from "General" Skywalker, Deena Shan from Alone Together and Lieutenant Janek Sunber, first introduced in To the Last Man. The rebels infiltrate Kalist VI with the intent of rescuing Jorin Sol who was lost on Jabiim, and while there discover the slaves that the empire is holding there. Sunber and his men are deployed on the same planet after their battle, also on Jabiim. At the end, we come to a fateful meeting between Sunber and Luke Skywalker, where we learn that Lieutenant Janek Sunber is none other that Luke's boyhood friend, Tank.

This was a very well written story, and a fitting send off to the Empire series. There is a lot of emotion and depth written into the characters, even the ones with small parts. But the ultimate showdown between Luke and Tank was the cherry on top of this story. The feelings that Tank grapples with while discussing his doubts with Luke, and his ultimate decision to remain true to the Empire sets the stage perfectly for the follow up series: Rebellion.
