Zayne Carrick and Gryph have returned to Coruscant to testify at the trial for Demagol, and the secrets between them start coming out. Gryph finally explains how he and Slyssk escaped from Serroco, and they make the comment that the droid Elbee is the only one not keeping secrets. Zayne comments that with Rohlan and Jarael gone, Elbee won't have to look at the Mandalorian who broke his hand, and the droid responds that the Mandalorian with Jarael isn't the one that broke his hand. Thinking the droid is confused, they question him, and Elbee explains that the Mandalorian who has been with them weighs considerably less than Rohlan did. As Zayne, Gryph and Slyssk reflect on their past adventures, a number of little things add up and they quickly come to the realization that the Mandalorian about to go on trial is actually Rohlan Dyre, and they have had Demagol with them the whole time. Deciding they need to fix what's happened, they stage a jailbreak, rescuing the real Rohlan Dyre, while Demagol takes Jarael back to the place she was born, revealing himself as Antos Wyrick, master of the school she attended before the Crucible took her. As Zayne and Gryph talk with Rohlan Dyre, they learn that Antos had been experimenting to create Mandalorian Jedi, using the DNA of Arca Jeth found on a robe that Ulic Qel-Droma had kept, and that Jarael had been his first potential success. He had got greedy though and wanted more test subjects so had brought in the slavers of the Crucible, only they eventually betrayed him and took all the children for their own. While Zayne brings everyone up to speed on hi own special project bringing together the families of his slain friends to help those who need help, they learn that Jarael has been given Exar Kun's double bladed lightsaber, and with her potential to amplify the Force, that could be disastrous. Zayne then sets a trap using Mandalorian and Republic forces, and they capture Dace Golliard, which allows them to find the location of Osadia. Using one of the Republic ships they rush out to the system, hoping they can make it before it's too late, but on Osadia, Jarael is fightinf through the ranks of the Crucible, looking for the others who were raised with her, until she encounters Chantique, and they fight. Just when it looks like Jarael is going to succumb to the Dark Side, Rohlan and Zayne arrive. Rohlan hunts down Demagol and Zayne stops the battle between Jarael and Chantique. He reveals to Chantique that her father is here and it was he who sold her to the slavers. The final confrontation arrives and Zayne tells Demagol that Jarael never had access to the Force, everything that ever happened was actually Demagol himself, and he passed that to his daughter, but he refused to see it. Chantique attacks Demagol, and he tries to grab Zayne's lightsaber, but gets Exar Kuns instead, killing both he and his daughter. Later on Coruscant, Rohlan performs one last good deed before disappearing, by reuniting Jarael with her parents and, that evening, as Zayne is trying to find out what to do with his life, Jarael meets him at Gryph's restaurant, wanting to find out his thoughts on a relationship with her.
