Posing as slavers from the Crucible, Zayne Carrick and Jarael run a con on a comet mining ship that buys slaves from the Crucible. Expecting 8 or 9 slaves on the ship, they are surprised to find a total of 80, all being sent down into an almost certain death situation. Gryph is there with their ship, collecting the minerals that the slaves are harvesting, but the con is busted when the captain of the ship contacts the Crucible for confirmation. Zayne and Jarael flee to the comet surface and start sending slaves to their ship to rescue them when Captain Dace Golliard arrives in his ship and starte trying to recover the slaves. Jarael is taken aback, as Dace is the man who captured her for the Crucible in the first place, and that moments pause is enough to get her caught a second time. Zayne gos after her and frees her, but it doesn't look like they are going to escape, even with Rohlan Dyre causing serious damage to Dace's ship, until they stop the ships centrifuge, causing the rest of the ship to start spinng and preventing Dace's ship from being able to lock on to them. They escape to hyperspace and Dace returns to his masters where they decide to make the recapture of Jarael a higher priority. Meanwhile, on Coruscant, Demagol finally begins to awaken.
