Barrison Draay, Krynda Hulis and Haazen are studying under Master Arca Jeth on Arkania and Haazen has been trying unsuccessfully to apprehend Nautolan smuggler Dossa. After Barrison saves him from his latest attempt to capture her, they return to a celebration before the Knighting ceremony. At the ceremony later, Master Arca proclaims Barrison and Krynda to be Jedi Knights, but Haazen is not so lucky. When he asks why, he is told that he doesn't have enough strength in the Force, and what strength he has is wasted chasing after Barrison and Krynda. He runs out and Barrison follows to console him, when Haazen accuses him of buying his way into the order and the affections of Krynda. Barrison hits him and then tells him that no matter what happens, Haazen will always have a place with him.
