On the Daimanate world Tergamenion, Kerra Holt manages to get an invitation to join Odion's elite forces throught the help of Daiman himself, and he is just glad to get her out of his territory and into his brothers. She joins Odion's Novitiates and makes her way to a meeting where Odion lays out his plans to find an artifact called the Helm of Ieldis that will magnify one of his Force talents. He will send his Novitiates to Sarrassia in the footsteps of Project Pandemonium, a 10 year old attempt to find the Helm. He returns to his amusements, and Kerra uses the distraction to learn that her parents were a part of Project Pandemonium. On Sarrassia, Kerra learns that her parents had learned the location of the Helm and had led Odion's project away so as to keep the Helm out of Odion's hands. But she also learns that it is located on Skarpos where Odion'd forces are currently waging a battle to take the planet from Lord Malakite, so in the hopes that she can find her parents, she reveals the location to the rest of the Novitiates. On Skarpos, Odion's forces are waging yet another battle against Malakite's, when suddenly Daiman arrives to join the fray, since if Odion wants something, Daiman wants it as well. Under cover of the battle, the Novitiates go to the tunnels where they hope to find the Helm, and Kerra sabotages their skiff so she can go alone into the tunnels in search of her parents. What she finds instead is Odion, holding the Helm. With everything she strove for in ruins, she learns that her parents died in the caverns on Skarpos and her despair powers the Helm enough to allow Odion to set three armies to kill each other to the last soldier. With Kerra a prisoner, they leave and Kerra is given a recording that was made by her parents before they attempted to seal the Helm away forever. the Helm explains that what they did was to give the rest of the universe a chance to escape the fate that Odion wishes, and that hope makes Yulan, the commander of the Novitiates, look at things a different way as they arrive at Vanahame, where Odion has thousands of children kept prisoner to despair, while the rest of the Sith family races to stop him. Odion has the lights turned off on the children and their despair powers the Helm as he begins the process of destruction, but Yulan, changed by his experiences, turns the lights back on and then frees the children. Their joy causes a feedback loop in the Helm which kills Odion, and Yulan takes the children to the Republic as refugees while the other Sith take Odion's territory for their own.
