The recently discovered Onderon has been accepted into the Republic, and Jedi Master Arca Jeth has been assigned as its Jedi. Instead of going himself to bring peace between the people of Iziz and the Beast-riders, he sends his apprentices, Ulic and Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta. They arrive, and as they are meeting with Queen Amanoa, the palace is assaulted and Princess Galia is kidnapped. The Jedi give chase, eventually arriving at the stronghold of Modon Kira, where his son Oron is marrying Galia. The Jedi agree to talk peacefully, and Oron and Galia explain that their marriage is one of love, but they knew Amanoa wouldn't accept it, so they staged this kidnapping to free Galia to marry. Modon then explains that 400 years before, a dark Jedi named Freedon Nadd found Onderon and set it up as his kingdom, ruling with an iron fist. All the leaders of Iziz since his time have been followers of the dark side of the Force, exiling any who disagreed with them. He then explains that the other Beast Lords have agreed that it is time to overthrow the dark side and asks the Jedi to help. Ulic asks for some time to get Amanoa to see reason and seek peace, and Modon agrees. The Jedi take Galia and Oron back to meet with the Queen who, in a fit of rage, calls down the dark side. All of them except Cay escape the throne room and the Beast Lords begin their assault. While the rest escape, Ulic goes back for his brother who has lost an arm to Amanoa's guards. The Jedi fight their way back out of the palace as Master Arca arrives and berates Ulic for not using the light side of the Force to stop this conflict. He then leads the way to the tomb of Freedon Nadd, where his control of the light side of the Force banishes the influence of Freedon Nadd. With the conflict ended, Oron Kira and Galia have their marriage recognized by the Republic, and begin ruling Onderon with the help of the Jedi.
