Darth Bane is fleeing Ruusan to the beast moon of Dxun at Onderon, haunted by the specter of Lord Qordis. He is looking for some way to keep the Brotherhood of the Sith going, now that the rest have all been eliminated by the detonation of the thought bomb. He crash lands on the moon and the specter of Lord Kaan leads him to the tomb of Freedon Nadd where he can find a lost holocron. He finds the holocron, but as he steps forward to collect it, a number of hard-shelled parasites drop onto him, fusing themselves solidly to his body. Qordis calls them orbalisks, and Bane quicky learns that they both protect his body and feed him by using the dark side of the Force. He takes the holocron and studies it for awhile, and comes out of Nadd's tomb with a renewed purpose. He vows that the Sith will never again reach the sheer numbers it has had; it will now only be one master and one apprentice, one to embody power and one to crave it. He then tames one of the beasts of the moon and contemplates changing the orbit of the moon again so that he can fly from Dxun to Onderon and find his new apprentice.
