After the discord and disagreement that paralyzed the Jedi Order while he was captured, Luke decides that it is time to make some changes. When the Jedi are unable to agree about anything he regretfully assumes command of the Order as it's Grand Master. He then begins patching up the Order's failing rapport with the Galactic Alliance government. He decides it is time to end the Killik crisis by killing Lomi Plo and neutralizing Raynar Thul, so he needs to eliminate any doubts he has. He forces R2-D2 to show him the recording of his parents on Mustafar, and while this causes him great grief, he now has no hidden doubts for Lomi to hide behind. He leads a Jedi strike force into the Utegetu nebula to destroy Gorog, the Dark nest and Lomi Plo along with it. In the resulting battle, Lomi Plo is injured and the Dark Nest is almost completely destroyed, but Mara Jade and Jacen Solo are both severely injured and Luke learns that he must conquer his fears if he is to win. On the planet of Tenupe, a major battle between the Chiss and the Killiks is being played out Princess Leia and Han Solo are captured and learn that the Chiss are planning on infecting the Killiks with a parasite that will eventually destroy the species completely. Working together with Jaina Solo and Zekk, the parasite is destroyed before it can be released, and Alema Rar is defeated though her body isn't found. In orbit, the Galactic Alliance fleet arrives and Luke leads a strike on the Killik flagship. Confronting Raynar Thul, Luke persuades him that the best thing he can do is leave the Killiks forever, but they are interrupted by Lomi Plo. Rendering Raynar unconscious, Luke battles and kills Lomi Plo, now that her defenses no longer affect Luke. With the leadership of the Colony eliminated, the Chiss are forced to accept a peace with them because steps have been put into place to ensure that the Killiks can no longer become a threat to the galaxy.
