With the Bakuran crisis resolved, Princess Leia and her team are at Onadax following up on a tip. Leaving the planet just ahead of a riot, Han Solo manages to pick up a passenger, Droma. Following his tip that the Yuuzhan Vong are attempting to destroy the communications centers that connect Galactic Alliance space with the Unknown Regions, they travel to Esfandia where they find the Vong already assaulting the planet. Shortly after they arrive, a small Imperial task force led by Admiral Pellaeon also arrives. Working together they fight the enemy to a standstill while the Millennium Falcon finds the mobile station on the planet. Once the Yuuzhan Vong ground forces are defeated, the combined defenders goad the Vong force into a battle where they are destroyed when the Ryn spy network arrives to assist. During this struggle, Tahiri Veila finally comes to terms with everything that has happened to her and emerges as a confident, whole individual who helps to turn the tide of the battle. On Coruscant, Nom Anor continues to stir the Shamed Ones with talk of the Jedi. His revenge is going well, with many of his old enemies losing their lives to Shimrra. Unfortunately, all things come to an end, and Ngaaluh is discovered and kills herself, leaving Nom Anor to wonder where he can go from here. In the Unknown Regions, Luke Skywalker and his team arrive at Zonama Sekot in time to witness a Yuuzhan Vong assault defeated. They are allowed to land on the planet, and are given a test to prove their character and then are given an audience with the intelligence of Sekot itself. Eventually Sekot agrees with them and decides to rejoin the rest of the galaxy and help as best it can
