Destiny's Way

After spending nearly a year in Yuuzhan Vong captivity, Jacen Solo opens himself to the Force again, making contact with his family. With this contact, both Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia receive an impression through the Force that everything is going to change. The New Republic government has gathered on Mon Calamari and is in the process of electing a new Chief Of State. The decision comes down to Fyor Rodan, who doesn't like the Jedi, and Cal Omas, who does. In order to ensure that Cal is elected, Lando Calrissian manipulates many of the Senators into supporting Cal instead of Fyor. With the election settled, Cal and Luke form a new Jedi Council that has elements of the government involved, and a dying Admiral Ackbar provides a battle plan that will cause significant losses for the Yuuzhan Vong. As the military prepares to implement his plan, the intelligence division completes work on a virus called Alpha Red, which is designed to wipe out all Yuuzhan Vong life. Upon hearing this, Vergere infiltrates the facility where it is stored and destroys it. As a backup, the military implements Ackbar's plan and Tsavong Lah's fleet is wiped out at Ebaq 9, and Tsavong Lah himself is killed by Jaina Solo. In the end, Vergere sacrifices herself in order to make sure Jacen lives to meet his destiny.
