As Jaina Solo is attempting to go back to the worldship for her brother Jacen, she realizes that she has to leave him if she wants the rest of the Jedi strike team to survive. Coruscant seems like the best destination, but as they come out of hyperspace they enter the tail end of the battle there. Flying a Yuuzhan Vong ship, they risk being destroyed until they prove to Han Solo and Kyp Durron who they are. The refugees are fleeing to Hapes, so that's where they go as well. Sending Tenel Ka out in an escape pod in case they have problems, they again prove their identity and then they rescue Tenel Ka from the pirate gang who captures her. Safely on Hapes, the team goes their separate ways and Jaina falls deeper into the dark side as she focuses on vengeance for her brothers as she believes Jacen to be dead as well as Anakin. She and Lowbacca learn how to fool the Yuuzhan Vong technology and they become successful at tricking their ships. Ta'a Chume has plans for Jaina to take over for Isolder's dying wife, but in the end, Jaina realizes how she is being manipulated and pulls back from the edge of the Dark Side as Tenel Ka takes on the crown of Hapes.
