Edge Of Victory I: Conquest

Edge Of Victory I: Conquest

Tsavong Lah has called for all the Jedi to be turned over to him in exchange for peace. Luke Skywalker and the rest of the Jedi are aware this is a lie, but the common citizens are too afraid to think otherwise. Anakin Solo feels that the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV is in serious trouble but because Luke has already asked Talon Karrde to pick up the children, he forbids Anakin from going to help, so naturally he goes anyways. Arriving in-system, he finds one Peace Brigade ship already there. He attempts to chase them off until their reinforcements arrive, and then he lands and persuades Kam Solusar to take the children and hide while he distracts the Peace Brigade. His plan would have worked, but several Jedi youth decided they were tired of being left out, and try to help. Robbed of his escape method, they go into hiding in the caverns while he and Tahiri Veila steal a freighter and try to evacuate. During their attempted escape, Master Ikrit is killed and Tahiri is captured, and they are forced to crash a good distance away from the Jedi Academy. While this is going on, Talon Karrde arrives and tricks the Peace Brigade into allowing him to use his vornskrs to find the rest of the Jedi. He then evacuates Kam, Tionne and the children, as the Yuuzhan Vong arrive to take the planet. Loading all the Jedi except Kam on another ship, he sends them out to Luke so they can be relocated, but he stays in-system because there are still four Jedi on the planet. On the moon, Qorl, the old Imperial pilot, finds Anakin and takes over repairing the freighter so that Anakin can go rescue Tahiri from the Yuuzhan Vong. Jacen and Jaina Solo leave Coruscant to find Booster Terrik because they need the extra firepower to push past the Vong blockade and rescue the remaining Jedi youth. On Yavin IV, Anakin is trying to get past the Vong defenses, but eventually they overwhelm him. Just as he is about to be captured, a Vong soldier named Vua Rapuung rescues him. Rapuung has been made into a Shamed One by his old lover, a Shaper who doesn't believe in the Vong gods and didn't want him to report her to their superiors. He believes that Anakin may help him get revenge on her, and so sneaks Anakin into the Vong compound. Tahiri is being broken by the Vong shapers; they are implanting false memories in her to convince her that she is one of them. Anakin and Rapuung move to confront the shapers, but they are leaving the planet with Tahiri. Mezhan Kwaad, the shaper, is forced to confess to what she did, and then she attacks everyone around her. When it seems too late, Tahiri manages to overcome her conditioning and kills Mezhan, allowing them to take the Vong ship and try to escape. They don't get very far before they crash, but Qorl and the remaining escapees find them, and they leave the planet. Talon Karrde sees them escaping and goes to pick them up, and his forces are attacked by the remaining Vong forces. Just when it seems like they won't make it in time, Booster Terrik and the Errant Venture arrive to destroy the remaining Vong forces and rescue all the slaves as well as the Jedi youth. Booster agrees to take the all the Jedi children on his ship to keep them safe until they find a better hiding place.
