A month after Han Solo and Droma put a stop to the false defector Elan, the Yuuzhan Vong are starting to appear unstoppable. They enter into an alliance with the Hutts, where the Hutts will supply them with worlds they need to further their war effort and the Vong will provide them with information so their spice trade will be uninterrupted. The New Republic has devised a plan where they will be able to give the Vong forces a significant defeat. They plan to lure the enemy to the Corellian system where they will activate the Centerpoint station interdiction field and then hammer the enemy forces while they can't escape. Princess Leia persuades the Hapans to provide a fleet of ships to help the New Republic war effort, and they are assigned to guard around the Corellian system to prevent any Vong from escaping. Han and Droma are hot on the trail of Droma's family, and follow them from Ruan to Fondor, where they are stranded by the people who are transporting them. As Han is trying to find the ship they were following, a massive Yuuzhan Vong warfleet arrives and begins to hammer Fondor's defenses. The New Republic fleet, expecting an assault at Corellia, is caught flatfooted and unable to come to Fondor's aid, and so the Hapan fleet is sent in to stop them. At the same time, Anakin Solo brings Centerpoint Station to readiness but declines to fire it at the Vong because Jacen Solo doesn't feel like it would be the right thing for a Jedi to do. At Fondor, Han and Droma rescue the stranded refugees and the Hapans arrive to stop the Vong just as Centerpoint is fired by Thrackan Sal-Solo, destroying three quarters of the Hapan fleet and half of the Vong fleet. The Vong retreat in shock and the Hapans withdraw to their own space again as Leia prepares to go to the Duro system and Han continues with his own journey.
