Boba Fett: A Practical Man
Karen Traviss
Boba Fett: A Practical Man
Cover Artist: Steven D. Anderson
This short story follows the Mandalorians from about two months before the Yuuzhan Vong invasion to a couple months after the fighting began. We learn why the Mandalorians chose to side with the invaders rather than with the New Republic. I thought this was a well written story, brought to us by the same author who wrote the "Republic Commando" series of books. Karen Traviss has been instrumental in fleshing out the Mandalorian race by helping to develop their language and social structure beyond what has ever been done before, and I believe this adds a lot of depth of character to what has traditionally been a very flat character type. I tend to enjoy these short stories a lot, because the author has a lot less time to tell a story so they have to do it well. This story succeeded.
