Luke Skywalker is visiting the planet Iridonia as an ambassador for the New Republic. As he's meditating in his room, he's set upon by what appears to be a ghost of Darth Maul but is surprisingly tangible. He speaks to his hosts who explain that this ghost began appearing shortly after the death of Darth Maul, and it has driven several people to the brink of insanity. Luke follows the disturbance in the Force until he finds the hidden laboratory of Drell Kahmf. Kahmf is a fanatic who believes that Darth Maul was the pinnacle of Iridonian society. After Maul was killed on Naboo, Kahmf recovered his body and was able to salvage Maul's brain and place it in a vat. He built a solid state hologram and connected it to Darth Maul's brain, and thus kept him "alive" for years. Luke then shut's down the system to put Maul to rest.
