Master Yalta Val of the Imperial Knights is assisting the new Triumvirate of Empire, Alliance and Jedi to create a communications array connecting the outer rim planets to the Inner systems, making one cohesive whole. Entering the Surd Nebula, his ship is shot down and his team is killed on an unknown planet named Mala. He is attacked by a Sith Lord, who is killed by his own apprentice before Val is taken prisoner. A communications droid picks up Val's dropped lightsaber and flies out where it is captured by junk dealers and taken to where Ania Solo acquires it. At the Carreras system, someone claiming to be Master Val shows up and informs them of a Sith threat and demands control of their security forces. While this is happening, Ania and her Mon Cal friend Sauk manage to open the droid and find the lightsaber and decide to try and sell it. Running from the corrupt authorities, Ania and Sauk make good on their escape, while elsewhere, the Sith pretending to be Val tries to get him to join him. When reports of Ania and the lightsaber reach the higher levels of government, the imposter promises to take care of it and makes his way to her junkyard where he takes the lightsaber from her and orders his guards to kill her. She and Sauk flee into the junkyard, but just when they are about to be caught, a droid named AG-37 intervenes, rescuing them. As they leave the system, Sauk is able to get the droid fixed and they see a recording of the duel between Val and the Sith, and realize that not everything is as it seems. As they flee the Carreras fleet, Imperial Knight Jao Assam arrives in the system against orders looking for Val and they attempt to arrest him. He escapes and follows the signal of Val's comm droid, allowing him to arrive in time to save Ania and her friends from a large creature. Jao identifies the Knight in the recording as Val, and AG-37 tells him to load his ship in the freighter so they can go find the real Val. On Carreras, the comm system undergoes a critical failure, causing major damage to the system, while Ania and her team head into the nebula to find the planet where Master Val was captured. Arriving at the location of the planet, they find nothing and are captured by a ship in the Carreras fleet and returned to the communiations array. While Ania, AG-37 and Sauk are imprisoned and Jao is being interrogated, Sauk realizes that the planet moved from it's location and while he laments not being able to figure out where it went, the communications array arrives at the planet. While the Sith is elsewhere, the Carreras governer releases Jao so he can get rid of the Sith, and releases Ania and her friends to help. They see the Sith getting in a ship and Jao recommends they find Val, but Ania is impatient and shoots down the ship. The Sith escapes the explosion and cuts down Jao and the rest and leaves again. AG-37 tells Ania that it's up to her now and that she is just like her ancestor Han Solo, who was a criminal before he stepped up to help his friends. She then flies down to the planet surface where the Sith, calling himself Darth Wredd, is transmitting his ultimatum to the galaxy. She attacks and is easily defeated, but she was simply a distraction, carrying Master Val's lightsaber to where he can reach it. While Val and Wredd duel, Ania returns to the communications array and saves Sauk and AG-37, and the three return to pick up Val after Wredd escapes. As they prepare to leave the system they find Jao floating in space, rescued by the communications droid, and Sauk thanks Ania for saving everyone.
