On the planet Dac, the Mon Calamari that remain are in hiding, but are still hunted by the Sith Empire. The only thing standing between are the Mon Calamari Rangers and Imperial Knight Treis Sinde. The Rangers are doing what they can, but they lack the military training that Sinde has, and they are losing. The Sith scientist Vul Isen has developed an undersea version of the ancient Leviathan at the suggestion of Darth Wyyrlok, and he and Darth Azard use the Force to awaken it and send it out to kill Mon Calamari. As the Rangers prepare to sacrifice themselves against the Leviathan, Sinde comes up with a plan that he hopes will save as many lives as possible. The Rangers are to attack the AT-AT Swimmer riding herd on the Leviathan, while Sinde provokes a school of Devilsquid to attack the Leviathan. As the Devilsquid pull the Leviathan down their chasm, the Imperials have to lower their shields to let their defenses out, whereupon a Mon Calamari named Shonmai sacrifices herself to destroy the swimmer. Vul Isen and Darth Azard make their escape and the Rangers live to fight another day.
