As Cade Skywalker and his allies travel to Had Abaddon to set a trap for Darth Krayt, they are pulled out of hyperspace near a derelict Star Destroyer. Caught in its tractor beam, they are pulled aboard and set down next to a ship that is over a hundred years old. As they split up to explore, they are Cade's team is set upon by a pack of creatures that are driven back by a mysterious woman after Cade and Azlyn Rae are bitten. After learning that Cade and Azlyn have been bitten, the woman imprisons them and explains that they are going to turn into Rakghouls like the creatures that attacked them. She tells them her name is Celeste Morne and gives them her history, and when Cade learns that the Rakghoul plague is spread like an illness he heals himself and Azlyn. Celeste then agrees to assist them in their takedown of Darth Krayt. Descending on the Imperial outpost on Had Abaddon, Morne uses the Muur Talisman to turn the Imperial troops into Rakghouls, allowing the Sith to escape and inform Krayt. While they are waiting, the Imperial Knights inform Emperor Fel who orders them to bring him the Muur Talisman no matter the outcome of the trap, Shado Vao has a vision of killing Morne and taking the Talisman for himself, and Azlyn feels an urge to kill Morne. Cade tells Morne that Muur needs to stop messing with his team or he will send her and the Talisman into the black hole in the Deep Core. When Krayt and his Hands arrive at Had Abaddon, Cade springs his trap. Morne's Rakghouls attack Krayt and Stryfe while Cade battles Darth Talon. The Imperial Knights spring their own trap, Draco Antares sends Ganner Kreig and Azlyn Rae to make sure Krayt dies while he attempts to kill Morne and take the Talisman for Emperor Fel. As the battle rages on, Azlyn Rae sees her chance and attacks Krayt from behind as Morne uses Force lightning to destroy him. Krayt falls to his apparent death and Morne confesses that she is losing the battle with Muur for the control of her body. At her request, Cade takes her life and when the Talisman tries to attack him, he uses the Force to find its flaws and destroy it. The team goes their separate ways, with Cade's team taking Azlyn Rae to be healed if possible, as Darth Wyyrlok finds Krayt still barely alive. Krayt explains that he now knows how to heal himself thanks to Muur, but Wyyrlok decides that he needs to die and attacks him with Force lightning.
