After Darth Kruhl succeeds in bringing the people of Munto Codru under the control of the Sith Empire by killing the leader of the dissenters, he is given a new mission from Darth Maladi. Using Governor Dorn as cover, he is to infiltrate Bastion and kill Emperor Roan Fel to force the Empire to stand down. Kruhl finds Fel meditating in the Pellaeon gardens, and immediately attempts to kill him, but finds Fel to be more adept than he believed. Fel kills Kruhl and the crew of Dorn's Star Destroyer, and sends Governor Dorn back to Coruscant where he is killed by Maladi for his failure. Maladi explains to Darth Krayt that her plan is working, and Fel will lower his defenses now that he has defeated this assassin.
