After torturing information out of Hosk Trey'lis, the head of Sith Intelligence, Darth Maladi, tasks Moff Nyna Calixte with finding Cade Skywalker. In order to find him without the Sith agents' awareness, she reactivates a retired operative named Morrigan Corde and sends her to the Wheel to find him, where the leaders of the Galactic Alliance Remnant and Roan Fel's Empire are discussing an alliance. Corde meets up with a Sith agent named Jor Torlin and forces him into an alliance that allows them to sabotage the discussions between the Alliance and the Empire, and then they travel to Ossus looking for Cade. When Torlin attempts to eliminate Corde, she kills him using an implanted nerve toxin and then leaves, reminiscing about her old life as Cade Skywalker's mother.
