Fate Of the Jedi: Outcast

Fate Of the Jedi: Outcast
Cover Artist: Ian Keltie
As the representatives of the Galactic Alliance, Imperial Remnant and Corellian Confederacy sit down to begin working out a peace treaty, Jedi Knight Valin Horn is struck with a strange affliction that causes him to believe that everyone he knows has been replaced by an imposter. He attempts to escape but is captured by his parents before he can hurt anyone and is returned to the Jedi Temple for examination. As the opening meeting of the Unification Summit lets out, Luke Skywalker is arrested by the Galactic Alliance. He was expecting this to happen, but is surprised to learn that his arrest is not for deserting Alliance forces in battle, but for not seeing what was happening to Jacen Solo and taking steps to stop it. After meeting with Chief Of State Natasi Daala, Luke suggests that he be exiled until he can learn what happened to cause Jacen to begin his slide to the dark side. With his proposition accepted he prepares to leave when Valin escapes and causes significant damage until he is stopped and recaptured. He is sedated and returned to the Jedi Temple where the Jedi learn that he is exhibiting Force powers he has no way of knowing. This leads Luke to begin his search with the Baran Do Sages on Kel Dor, and he and his son Ben set out on their mission. While the Jedi Order on Coruscant is made to suffer more indignities including turning Valin over to be frozen in carbonite until a solution can be found, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Allana travel to Kessel where Lando needs help. The planet has been experiencing heavy groundquakes ever since the destruction of Centerpoint Station, and Han and Leia discover that this is due to ancient hidden machinery self-destructing underground, with the final purpose being the destruction of Kessel. With the help of a crew of experienced fighter pilots, they prevent this from happening by destroying each destruct station before they can destruct on their own. On Kel Dor, Luke and Ben learn that the sages have a secret. When they feel it is time, each sage will "die" and travel to a place where they behave as if they are dead and work on preserving the knowledge of the sages in case of a disaster on the scale of the Jedi Purge. Luke and Ben join them in their underground retreat and convince most of them that they need to stop behaving as if they are dead and take a more proactive approach to preserving their knowledge. As they prepare for the next step of their mission, back on Coruscant the Jedi capture Seff Hellin, the first Jedi to display symptoms of not being quite right, which only agitates the situation between the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi.
