Legacy Of the Force: Invincible
Cover Artist: Jason Felix
Jaina Solo is on a tour of the Verpine manufacturing facility with Boba Fett when the Imperial Remnant decides that they want the Verpine technology for themselves. They assault Nickel One, the prime facility, employing nanotechnology to kill the Verpine soldier class and Fett tells Jaina to leave because her training is finished and she needs to live to be able to take out Darth Caedus. At the hidden Jedi base on Shedu Maad, she presents her case that she is the Jedi who needs to take out her fallen brother and learns that Luke Skywalker already foresaw this. Traveling to Coruscant with her parents and Ben Skywalker, they learn from Ben's friend Lon Shevu that Caedus is currently at Nickel One reigning in the Imperial Moffs. Before they can escape cleanly though, both Ben and Shevu are captured by Tahiri Veila and the GAG, and Jaina and her parents are forced to leave Ben in the clutches of the GAG. Armed with their new intel, Luke leads a mission into Verpine space to provide cover and support for Jaina's attempt on Caedus' life. They encounter the Mandalorians attempting to free the Verpine and kill the Moffs, and the two factions agree to work together to accomplish their separate goals. Jaina makes her way to the asteroid with the help of her family and helps a team of Mandalorians led by Mirta Gev to insert themselves into the asteroid. They track the Moffs to their hidden meeting room and the Mandalorians attack, killing a few Moffs before Caedus intervenes. During the fight, Jaina manages to injure her brother from a sniper position before he defeats the Mandalorians. Facing her with one disabled arm and believing that he is facing Luke Skywalker, he fights for all he is worth but can't defeat her. Jaina on the other hand feels a strange infusion of power from the Force, not realizing that Luke is helping her, fights like a maniac and amputates his arm before reinforcements arrive and she has to retreat. On Coruscant Tahiri has been unsuccessful in persuading Ben to reveal the location of the Jedi base and when she accidentally kills Shevu during interrogation Ben takes the opportunity to escape. With the help of the Hapans, he makes his way back to Shedu Maad but Prince Isolder is captured and imprisoned by Caedus along the way. Ben returns to base just ahead of the task force that is under Caedus' command. Caedus found the base by tracking Jaina using an obscure Force technique he learned from the Nightsisters of Dathomir, but not before they could be reinforced by the Hapans led by Tenel Ka. During the battle, Jaina boards Caedus' Star Destroyer and tracks him down finding a paralyzed but alive Mirta Gev along the way. Catching Caedus before he disposes of the body of Isolder but after he discovered that the Imperials used his blood to create a nanotech virus that targeted the Hapan royal family, she attacks him for the last time. They both take many injuries, but as Jaina kills Caedus he gives up the fight in favor of attempting to warn Tenel Ka of the virus headed her way. On Shedu Maad, Tahiri leads a team of stormtroopers in a mission to wipe out the Jedi. They are ambushed by a force of Hapans and Ben who manage to put a halt to their plans. Ben chases down Tahiri and persuades her to abandon the dark side of the Force and return to the light, but Tahiri doesn't feel like she can ever return to the Jedi. Tenel Ka announces that the attack on the royal blood killed her daughter Allana, and as the peace negotiations are concluded Han and Leia Solo introduce Jaina to their new adopted daughter, a war orphan who bears a remarkable resemblance to the Solo family. Peace is found at last with Admiral Natasi Daala as the new Chief Of State of the Galactic Alliance and Jagged Fel as the new leader of the Imperial Remnant.
